The Rowan Fine Tweed Haze will knit to most double knitting (DK) patterns, perhaps you have a favourite DK pattern and are thinking of choosing this to knit your project ? We would always recommend knitting a tension square first prior to starting your project and it's fairly easy to calculate the number of balls required as long as you know the yardage/meterage of the yarn used in the pattern.
If the pattern you wish to knit is suggesting let's say 7 x 50g balls of another aran yarn which has 100 metres per ball
7 (balls) x 100m = 700 metres required for your knitting project, if you divide 700 metres by 215 metres (the length of yarn on a ball of Rowan Fine Tweed Haze) you'll get 3.25, which means you'll need to allow 4 x balls of Fine Tweed Haze for your project.
This calculation will of course work with any yarn as long as you know or can find out the length of yarn on the ball the pattern was originally designed for.
