Aran sweaters are part of our history and traditionally linked with the fishing industry of days gone by due to the lanolin which is naturally found in sheeps wool as this helped to provide a cosy warm and weaterproof layer to wear.
Years later we still favour aran wool although lanolin isn't necessary because of our warmer homes & waterproof clothing it is now removed during the production of commercial yarns.
Aran weight yarn is celebrated for its versatility and satisfyingly quick knit, making it a beloved choice for a multitude of projects. Its substantial thickness creates beautifully textured fabrics, ideal for cosy jumpers, chunky cardigans, and warm winter accessories. The distinctive cable patterns often associated with Aran knitting truly shine with this yarn, lending depth and a classic, rustic charm to your creations.
