Rowan Denim Lace

A new yarn has just arrived into our Wool Shop & it's something quite different & refreshing ...

the Denim Lace yarn from Rowan  (£5.95 per cone)

' a lace weight yarn ideal for texture and lace which can be knitted with other lace weight yarns'

it's made with recycled denim (95%) and 5% other fibres, it has a gorgeous almost tweedy texture unlike most of the other lace yarns that we've had over the years & it comes in lovely soft muted shades too ...

There is a mini pattern booklet for the Denim Lace yarn which is free with yarn purchase (minimum of 2 cones) with 4 designs created by Martin Storey & Sharon Miller (scroll down for more design info)

but first here are the shades & the yarn info:

50g cones. 400 metres per cone & a cool hand wash is suggested,

01 sand is ideal if you're thinking of a neutral shade

06 habour fog ... is the paler of the blues, like washed denim

shade 07 ocean floor is the darker blue

03 umbria red is a very soft muted red

shade 08 black is the darkest colour in the range ... like a charcoal black

Hermia by Martin Storey, a long sleeve sweater with double strand of yarn uses from 8 to 11 balls

Peaseblossom by Martin Storey, a gorgeous generous sized wrap ( 46cm wide x 209cm long) uses double strand of yarn in 2 shades, requires 3 balls each of 2 shades

Mote by Sharon Miller, a lovely lacey shawl using 5mm needles & requires just 2 cones of yarn

Mustard Seed by Martin Storey, a striking scarf using 2 shades of the Denim Lace (black & sand) in double strand, the scarf requires 3 cones of black & 2 cones of sand

we believe that the Denim Lace will become a firm favourite to wear all year round due to the tweedy texture ... and not just for summer garments & accessories
